Dolphins are known to be highly developed creatures from whom we can learn a lot. Throughout history, human beings have tried to unlock the secrets of the dolphins’ superior intelligence.
In this pursuit scientists construct pools or underwater observation decks where they can swim along with the animals and experience them in their own habitat. Dolphins are regarded as bringers of luck and symbols of hope and have been considered man’s friend since ancient times, appearing to assist fisherman and act as navigators.
This film was shot in cooperation with Greenpeace in more than 20 countries throughout the world. We don’t, however, just tell the positive side of the story; the systematic killing of dolphins for the Japanese food market, the increasing restriction of their habitat and the summary destruction of dolphins in fishing industry driftnets are among the aspects explored in this multi-part documentary.
