3000 Miles Against the Current - The Adventurous Return of the Rhine Salmon

In the middle of the ‘80s all the countries through which the Rhine passes signed up to a unique program for nature conservancy. The plan was to re-populate the sullied river waters with the salmon that had long since died out there. What almost everyone thought impossible remarkably succeeded. The first Rhine salmon are back!

The film shows how the delicate fish returned to their Rhine habitat and what adventures they had on their long journey to get there. For two years we traced the route of the salmon as they traveled from Greenland to the Rhine estuary; from Rotterdam to their spawning grounds in Germany and France.
