Egypt Revisited

Did you know that the pyramids in Egypt were built by hardly any slave, but by employed craftsmen and artisans?

Did you know that scientists believe to have found only 10-20% of all ancient sites, treasures and tombs?

Did you know that the probably greatest discovery made so far is not a king’s grave or a temple hidden in desert sand, but a small piece of burnt coal on top of an unearthed heap of ancient garbage?

Did you know that in Europe since the 16th/17th century thousands of Egyptian mummies were destroyed by being used as fuel or even as medicine?

Ancient Egypt was and still is a spectacular subject. But often it is only contemplated through a keyhole. TV-formats tend to offer not more than a narration of single buildings, tombs, pharaohs and mummies.

Egypt Revisited” (working title) wants to adjust perspectives by exploring a span of 3500 years of advanced civilization, from the beginning of Dynasty Zero – arisen from the empires of the Upper and Lower Nile – up to the final decline that came along with Cleopatra’s death in 30 B.C.
