The Teutons

„After four years of intensive work by experienced filmmakers, authors, editors, artists, musicians, technicians and production assistants – the series is ready for broadcast prior to the 60th anniversary of the Federal Republic of Germany and its constitution and 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall; a challenging piece of work for both broadcaster and production company. It was a thrilling task. We took much pleasure in it.” (Uwe Kersken, Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion, Cologne)

The primetime ten-part documentary about German history spans from Otto the Great in the 10th century to the proclamation of the First Republic by Philipp Scheidemann in November 1918. A millennium of an ever-changing past, involving the emergence of a “federal nation”, unity and diversity.

Never before has a documentary about the history of the Germans been so spectacular. Decisive twists and turns, embedded in documentary sequences, were reconstructed in scenes.

This high-definition production employed well-known actors as well as hundreds of extras.

Nearly five hundred outstanding 3D-graphics and computer animations, impressive shots of ancient sites, historically significant buildings and typical landscapes are incorporated in the films.
