Expeditions

For ARTE’s fifteen-part series “Expeditions,” we created seven films. In each film, a different ARTE viewer was given the opportunity to take part in a research journey and travel to a foreign country.

In cooperation with renowned scientists, protagonists explore Belize, Panama, Namibia, Brasil, and three other countries in the search for answers to questions on the environment, anthropology, oceanography, and conservation. Participants dealt with icy cold in the Ethiopian highlands, mosquitoes in the Mongolian steppe, and torrid heat in Lake Malawi. These engaging, informative films bring the viewer closer to everyday field research.
